Περιγραφή:
This book sets out to tell an alternative history of Greek cinema in thirty four “scenes”. Each chapter focuses on a date from the 20th century and uses it as an incitement for fresh critical storytelling. The contributors thus offer a novel perspective on issues that have long preoccupied Greek film history – genres, stars, audiences, festivals, studios, the important artistic and technological milestones. Yet they also broach questions that have been equally disavowed – the role of gender, sexuality and affective spectatorship, the impact of censorship, the instances of self-exoticization characteristic of a cinema of a small nation, as well as the weird connections that lie under (and often work against) the official national history.
